Part of Design Miami/’s America(s) theme, Salon 94 Design presents new work by 3 multi-generational artist designers: Thomas Barger, Jay Say Jin Oh, and Gaetano Pesce.

Barger’s Gingham Table / Chairs is a play on the classic picnic table—with a new plaid pattern airbrushed onto his classic molded and up-cycled paper pulp chairs and table.

The shape of Jay Sae Jung Oh’s Wall Organizer—reminiscent of Dorothee Becker’s Uten.Silo plastic organizer—is made from cast away plastic toys and objects unified in wrapped leather cords. Her work makes a statement about the cultural condition of abundance, categorization, and obsolescence. With the care of their makers, Jay re-imagines the most mundane objects into a fantastical buried treasure hunt.

Gaetano Pesce’s 60 year career has deemed him the master of resin, constantly pushing the physical aesthetic boundaries of this material. Annually, Pesce envisions a public large sculpture that historically celebrates his latest or most iconic design. This year with the postponement of many public events and large-audience art fairs, Pesce decided to scale down only slightly—the Esperance Vase is the largest functional vase by Pesce to date!
